Electric Bambino 2024: Powertrain Supply tender applications now open

Tuesday 23 May 2023

Tender applications are now open for the electric powertrain supply of Electric Bambino from 2024. Ahead of its exciting launch in the Motorsport UK Bambino Kart Class next year, all potential applicants are invited to access the tender documentation via the Resource Centre on the Motorsport UK website.

Motorsport UK Electric Bambino will offer karters the use of an electric powertrain that will be similar in performance to the Comber C50 petrol engine currently used in the specially-designed, size-appropriate Bambino karts of the Motorsport UK Bambino Kart Class, which have a top speed of around 35mph.

As part of Motorsport UK’s commitment to environmental sustainability, headed up by our dedicated Sustainability Committee, we are constantly assessing how new technologies can be embraced to support the transition to net zero within motorsport. As such, introducing an electric powertrain option for junior-level karting is an exciting and positive step.

However, to ease the process, the petrol engine will remain eligible for use at Bambino events nationwide during a transitional period from the 2024 season onwards – ensuring that the category, which caters for six-to-eight year-olds, retains its famed wheel-to-wheel character.

Multiple top-level junior drivers have kickstarted their careers in Bambino, including Zak Drummond, Freddie Slater, Nathan Tye and Arvid Lindblad.
