Eyes on the prize: Your chance to get up close and personal with the British Grand Prix Trophy

Thursday 18 April 2024

If you are one of the lucky ticket holders to Bicester Heritage’s Spring Scramble this Sunday, a trip to our Motorsport UK HQ is a must for all Formula-One fans keen to get up close to this magical piece of British racing heritage.

Normally kept behind lock and key at the Royal Automobile Club in London, Motorsport UK will be the proud custodians of the trophy, awarded to the winner of the British Grand Prix since 1948.

The present trophy is an example of a Victorian two-handled cup. Little is known of its origins, with the only clue being in the motto which displays, ‘Floreat Etona’ or ‘let Eton Flourish’, which suggests it could have been donated to the RAC by the late Sir Charles Rolls, an Etonian and founder of the Rolls Royce Motor Company.

Scramble attendees will be able to grab a snap and can scan our QR code to make a donation to the British Motorsport Trust. Don’t forget to use our hashtag #ourmotorsportuk to share your experience from your visit on Sunday.
