#FIAVolunteersWeekend celebrates the backbone of motorsport

Friday 19 November 2021

Volunteers are the power behind UK motorsport. From marshals and scrutineers to timekeepers and rescue and recovery personnel, the 9,500 Motorsport UK-registered volunteers are vital to ensuring the safe and effective running of the 5,000 motorsport events that take place every year.

Numerous motorsport events coincide with the #FIAVolunteersWeekend celebrations. The FIA ERT Celtic – Rally Championship Ulster International Rally leads the celebrations for the UK, as the final round of the prestigious 2021 British Rally Championship title will be decided.

Without the dedication of the army of officials giving up their spare time for free, motorsport across the UK would not happen. This weekend is a chance for us all to thank our volunteer officials’ community for their strength, passion, commitment, expertise and experience, which allow us to do what we love.

Motorsport UK is committed to recruiting and retaining volunteers, whose efforts are rewarded with the chance to become more deeply involved in the sport and enjoy the best seat in the house. If you feel inspired to get started in volunteering, you can learn how to get involved below.
