Race Weekend Review: 7th – 8th August 2021
This past weekend brought an abundance of motorsport action across multiple disciplines. Talented British drivers from the British Kart Championship, all the way up to the British GT Championship, displayed true racing grit and determination. Here’s a look back at all the action.
Intelligent Money British GT Championship – Rounds 5 & 6 at Snetterton
It was a great first day of racing at the British GT Championship event at Snetterton, with Al Harthy and Charlie Eastwood winning the opening GT3 race and Jordan Collard and James Kell taking pole in GT4 for Team Rocket RJN. In the final race, RAM Racing’s Ian Loggie and Yelmer Buurman drove right to the limit, completing the race in P1. At the same time, Will Moore achieved his maiden GT4 victory alongside Matt Cowley.

Motorsport UK Wera Tools British Kart Championships – Round 4 at Rowrah
This past weekend, talented young drivers from across the UK gathered at Rowrah for the fourth event in the IAME calendar and the third event in the KZ2 and Bambino series. Extraordinary racing took place across all the classes, which led to the awarding of trophies to some very deserving drivers.

IAME Junior X30 winner – Harry Burgoyne
IAME Senior X30 winner – Thomas Turner
IAME Cadet winner – Zac Drummond
KZ2 winner – Bradley Barrett
IAME Mini X30 winner – Leo Robinson

GB3 Championship– Round 13, 14 & 15 at Snetterton
Joining the British GT Championship at Snetterton were the GB3 teams and drivers, with the weekend starting well for British driver Oliver Bearman who claimed his first championship victory, getting ahead of current championship-leading driver Zak O’Sullivan. Sebastian Alvarez came back stronger in the next race and achieved his maiden win, claiming the top spot from Oliver Bearman even though Bearman was quicker off the line. And in the final race, Arden Motorsport driver Roman Bilinski took another win in this year’s championship from starting third on the grid.
The next round of the GB3 Championship takes place this weekend at Silverstone (14 – 15 August 2021).
SBD Motorsport UK HSA British Sprint Championship at Kirkistown
The first race of the British Sprint Championship proved successful for both Graham Blackwell and Graham Porrett, who won a run off each at the Kirkistown event. However, this wasn’t Porrett’s only victory. He returned on the second day to claim his second win of the weekend, resulting in him moving up seven places in the championship standings. It was also a prosperous day for Pete Goulding, who achieved his first run off win of the 2021 championship.
Motorsport UK British Car Trial Championship – Cymru and Derwydd Trial
It was an excellent weekend for Rupert North, who won the first British Car Trial Championship event, finishing ahead of Trevor Moffatt. On the second day of racing, Barrie Parker finished first overall in his Uege R, ahead of previous first overall winner Rupert North who achieved first in his class.

McGrady Insurance Motorsport UK Northern Ireland Rally Championship – Dogleap Stages
Desi and Mark Henry showed true rally driving talent this past weekend, claiming a victory in the Dogleap Stages of the Northern Ireland Rally Championship. After Jonny Greer and Kirsty Riddick faced difficulties following pothole damage, the Henry’s took the opportunity to finish P1.
The next round of the Northern Ireland Rally Championship is in a fortnight (21 August 2021) for the Loughgall Stages.
